Hydrogard A100/A200 Anthracite Filter Media

Compare Hydrogard A100 and A200 anthracite media by sieve data, composition, filter design, backwash inputs, and quotation details for Indonesia projects.

Hydrogard A100/A200 Anthracite Filter Media

Hydrogard A100 and A200 are anthracite filter media for particle filtration in single-, dual-, or multimedia beds. PT Watermart Perkasa supplies both through water.co.id for water-treatment projects in Indonesia. Select the grade by matching particle-size distribution, layer arrangement, filtration rate, backwash capacity, and lot certificate of analysis—not by the model name alone.

What Is the Difference Between Hydrogard A100 and A200?

The confirmed difference in the product sheet is the reported sieve limit: A100 lists material above 1.6 mm and below 0.85 mm, while A200 lists material above 4 mm and below 0.85 mm. Their listed proximate-composition values are the same. The sheet does not give a complete particle-size distribution, so buyers should not infer selection from the A100 or A200 code alone.

When Is Anthracite Filter Media the Right Choice?

Anthracite is primarily a granular medium for retaining suspended solids and turbidity. An April 2026 U.S. EPA fact sheet describes anthracite with silica sand as a common dual-media arrangement, while a three-media filter may add garnet. That EPA reference explains process principles; it is not an Indonesian regulatory requirement.

What Data Should a Buyer Send for Grade and Quantity Selection?

Hydrogard A100 or A200 selection requires hydraulic and raw-water data. Send the following information so the quotation is not based on vessel diameter alone:

  1. turbidity, TSS, iron, manganese, and pH results, plus any color or odor problem;
  2. normal and peak service flow, operating hours, and required filtrate quality;
  3. vessel diameter and height, bed depth, layer sequence, freeboard, and underdrain type;
  4. available backwash flow, water-source capacity, drain capacity, and air-scour availability;
  5. clean differential pressure, backwash trigger, run length, and filtrate-quality records;
  6. photos of old media labels, valve model, number of units, quantity per unit, and project location;
  7. current data sheet, package label, and CoA for the lot being offered.

For an initial estimate, cylindrical bed volume is π × (inside diameter ÷ 2)² × bed depth, using consistent units. The Hydrogard sheet states a dry weight of about 50 lb/ft³ (approximately 801 kg/m³ by unit conversion), but purchase quantity must still account for lot density, layer arrangement, backwash-expansion space, and loading method.

Buyer Questions About Hydrogard A100 and A200

Where can I buy Hydrogard A100 or A200 in Indonesia?

PT Watermart Perkasa supplies water-treatment components through water.co.id in Indonesia. Send the water data, vessel details, flow, media arrangement, quantity, and project location through the Watermart contact page so the team can check specifications and availability at quotation time.

Is A200 always better than A100?

No. A model code does not prove that one grade is universally better. The product sheet uses different upper sieve thresholds for A100 and A200 but does not show the complete size-distribution curve. Match the grade to the filter design and request the current data sheet and lot CoA.

Is anthracite the same as activated carbon?

No. On this page, anthracite is selected primarily for particle filtration in a granular bed. Activated carbon is selected when the primary target is adsorption of applicable compounds such as odor, taste, free chlorine, or organics supported by its product data.

Can Hydrogard be installed above silica sand?

Anthracite above silica sand is a common dual-media arrangement. Particle size, density, layer depth, freeboard, and backwash rate must still be engineered so the bed restratifies and media is not carried to drain.

When should an anthracite filter be backwashed?

Use rising differential pressure, falling flow, declining filtrate quality, or a validated operating-time limit as the trigger. Backwash flow and duration must follow product data, water temperature, bed expansion, underdrain, and drain capacity—not a universal number.
